Later when the participants were asked to memorize the things they were shown, all of them remembered the loaf of bread much better than the other devil things because the loaf of bread was consistent with the context that the participants were originally shown. Taking the results of this research into consideration, it can be safely said that human perceptions of things are determined by the contexts in which they experience the stimuli. The doctrine of constructivism makes a lot of emphasis upon the meaning. Constructivism, is in itself a theory that revolves around learning. The main idea behind the doctrine of constructivism is that an various(prenominal) constructs knowledge on the basis of his/her mental activity. The doctrine of constructivism considers learners as the organisms that actively seek knowledge and meaning. Initially, meaning is constructed in such a way that its family relationship is very weak with reality, like the mindset of children, who are in constant phase of discovering the world and perceiving it. Public Relations Project - Essay Exampleis necessary to develop medicine abuse legal profession awareness among the use, so that students can identify the dangers and impacts of drug abuse in their health and success. As the Public Relations staffer, I was hired by a non-profit organization to develop a broad communication conception in support of working to reduce gage, especially among high school students, through our group, seal of approval Out Smoking. The development of the communication plan usually starts with the assessment of smoking and other adolescent problems, which include examining the level of community risk factors, and the level of smoking in the community (Crano & Burgoon 145). The assessment results are used to raise community awareness of the seriousness and nature of smoking problem, and this information is used to determine the best(p) program that is relevant to the students needs. The next step is the analysis of the students readiness for prevention. T his helps in identifying further steps that are required to lecture the students out front the beginning of the prevention effort. The final step involves holding meetings with teachers and student representatives to help implement and maintain research-based programs (Crano & Burgoon 145). This requires resource development for management and staffing with the existing delivery systems. This plan identifies information dissemination as the most effective communication method for creating drug prevention awareness among the high school students. This approach attempts to communicate the dangers of drug abuse by using a fear-arousal technique designs to frighten individuals and attract attention in to not using drugs, including the dangerous impacts of drug abuse on an individuals health (Crano & Burgoon 259). The information approaches involve classroom lectures about the negative impacts of smoking, including printed materials, short films, and educational pamphlets, which imparts information to the youths about the dangers of smoking. Teaching as an Act of Love Essay Example for Free

Teaching as an Act of Love EssayAntonia Darder presents a portrait of why Freires work as an pedagogue was so influential in creating an understanding of education as an art. Teaching truly became an art when educators like Freire began to understand the importance of education in the work of neighborly trans final causet. The presence of love in the classroom, the type of love that is lively, forceful, challenging, and inspiring was the type of love that Darder thought was a lasting influence that Freire had on the field. She punctuate the conviction that Freire held in liberating students through education, he believed in the humanizing aspects of education.Freire believed that education was the tool for contributing to the human-ness of our political and economic existence as genial beings. The article says that, Freire assailable how even well-meaning teachers, through their lack of critical moral leadership, actually participate in disabling the heart, minds, and bodi es of their students an act that disconnects these students from the personal and social motivation necessitate to transform their world and themselves (498). The author argues that his massiveest contribution to the field of education was his power to be compassionate and his regard and concern for his students. The articles that we read this week deal the concept of business organization, but more importantly the ability to overcome and persona the fear as a powerful force in the classroom. He express that it is the fear of freedom that affects the educator and creates a barrier in the classroom from the liberating practices that many educators believe argon important. The way he describes the fear of freedom is the fear of being free from the status quo, the fear of the oppressed classes to realize a freedom from the oppressing classes. Freire thought that the experience of fear was a symbolic fight against the get by that the liberating educators believe in.Freire said the experience of fear was important because it is a chance to recognize where the fear comes from, what it means, and how it puke be used. He said that fear can be transformed into courage the courage to make a move away from the status quo, our fear can be harnessed into a motivation. Teachers are affected personally by the relationship between the oppressor and the oppressed the dominant ideology has such an influence over the subordinate classes that it affects educators because of the fear that they study within.Freires experiences with oppression developed his political purpose, he wanted to create a liberatory practice to challenge the conditions that limit the capacity in the oppressed class to change the world and right the wrongs of social injustice. Freire hoped that educators would confront their fears and use their beliefs rough the social structure to teach liberating lessons and influence the future. He thought the way for educators to teach the lessons in which they believed in was to work together, he believed in the power of solidarity to empower a political movement.Freire wanted educators to network and work with one another to emancipate students from the social inequalities of our time, through networking they could empower one another and give force to their beliefs. Darder introduces the term praxis she describes it as the union of action and reflection. The teacher needs to have the ability to practice both of these aspects of education only through action and reflection of the importance of the act of teaching will the ideas of critical pedagogy be realized. check This article made me feel a little better about the issues that we have been reading about throughout this course. The tone of most of the readings thus furthermost has been negative and has made me feel pessimistic about the future of the educational system. The issues that our reading assignments have discussed seem to run so deep in our social consciousness that there i s little hope in reversing the trends of social inequality. This fear makes becoming a teacher seem dismal if all we have to hold onto on our road to teaching is the notion that the patterns of inequality are getting worse and the elites are becoming more powerful how are we as teachers divinatory to do anything at all to help our students and ourselves.I enjoyed this weeks reading selections because it brought a defining focus upon the fear that teachers experience and gave a bit of advice on how to use the fear as a powerful force. I believe that the fear that Freire spoke of is one that is shared by many educators. It is a fear that does not diminish with time or experience, on the contrary, it eats at you as you plan your lessons, as you teach your students, and it goes home with you and stays with you outside of the classroom. Freires thoughts on the ability of the educator to channel the fear of being fired or being targeted as a radical into a powerful force was inspiring. It was great how he took something negative and turned it into a tool that can be used in a positive way, he encouraged educators to talk about it and network with one another to begin to express their political views about education. He said, Acting alone is the best way to commit suicide (485) and he hoped that instead of acting alone, teachers would work together in their fight. He argued that education is political in nature and this implies that the educator is a political being. I plan to sit quietly at meetings only long enough to have enough people on my side to be able to be hear when I want to speak up on an issue.Freire used the phrase rock the gravy holder in this weeks readings, I use the phrase rock the gravy holder all the time and I even used it in a recent conversation with my administrator. I was able to talk to her informally about a discrepancy I was having with the other members of my teaching team, and I told her, I didnt want to rock the boat. She looked at m e, smiled and laughed as she said, Rock the boat Rock the boat I was lucky enough to choose the right battle in this case and my administrator was on my side, I am so glad I did not let the fear of confronting the issue consume me.

Of Mice and Men - Curleys Wife Essay Example for Free

Of Mice and Men Curleys Wife EssayCurleys wife is the only women in the ranch, as we learned from the previous chapters, and is not given a stool as she is seen as Curleys property. First destined to be an actress as she recounts to Lennie, Candy and Crooks, her chances were taken away by her mother who thought she was too young and she so ended up at the ranch by marrying Curley, concerned in getting away from her opportunity-breaker mother as soon as possible. From this we can already observe her high self-esteem, thinking it was only because of her mother that she didnt end up in acting, not because of her possible lack of great talent. But marrying Curley wasnt maybe ultimately the best choice.Confined almost all day in a two-by-four house, she has to listen to her men-hater husbands only conversation about what he is going to do to the fellows he doesnt like, or to support his non-care about her. She doesnt like him, says he is too selfish and proud of himself (we can no tice that these are also two of her self-characteristics). These facts lead her to change state lonely and hostile to men, regarding them as responsible for her bad situation. The only benefit she uses from her marriage is her superiority against the other men, being the wife of the bosss son and so having the indicant of having them fired, power from which she abuses, for example by forcing Lennie, Crooks and Candy to speak to her. This shows her manipulative and intelligent character but also her tremendous loneliness. She is mean, bitter and prejudiced against them (she calls them the weak ones, hobos, and discriminates them by treating them respectively of dum-dum, nigger and lousy old sheep), but she has an irrepressible need to talk to them.

Statistics Essays Histogram

Statistics Essays HistogramA histogram is often used for representing data from a continuous variable which are summarised as a grouped absolute frequency statistical distribution. We use Excel to generate a Box to represents both the original and the right personates of data. The result is the following diagramThe contrary methods of diagrammatic representation of statistical data are bar chat, histogram, steam and leaf, and lineplots. The bar chart is more appropriate to data from a discrete distribution that are summarised using a frequency distribution. A histogram is often used for representing data from a continuous variable which are summarised as a grouped frequency distribution. A histogram is t here(predicate)from similar to a bar chat, but is used to present continuous data. Steam and leaf gives a visual representation similar to the histogram but has the gain that it does not lose the detail of the individual data point in the grouping. All these diagrams serve to examine the general shape of the distribution of data and attention in making conjecture about values of quantities such as the median, the mean or the interquartile range. The last one, the lineplot, is often appropriate for smaller data sets, and jackpot be useful for example to check whether toe data sets have a common variance. We denote by and the mean of the original set and the corrected set respectively. Then we have i.e. . i.e. .Since we have an even number of observation, the median in this case will be the midpoint of the two middle observations. ThatsFor the original set the median is For the corrected set the median is .The standard deviation of each data set is given by , where , are the different values in each data set. HenceFor the original set, , and for the corrected set .The lower quartile is defined to be the th observation counting from below, and the f number quartile is the same but counting from above. The interquartile is simply the difference between th e upper and the lower quartile. We have the results in the following table.Original setCorrected setLower quartile3.8153.7475Upper quartile3.39253.3925Interquartile0.42250.355Question 2Theoretically, the fact that 9 and 12 merchantman be made up in as m any shipway as 10 and eleven 11 means that both sets of numbers should have the same luck to appear. The first thing that should be noted here is the fact that this is true if and only if when we throw a dice, all the numbers have the same probability of appearance, which if not always the case in figure when if when we need to allow consideration such as the on uniformity of the surface on which the dice is thrown, the angle and the velocity at which the is thrown, and even any deformation on the dice which all have an effect on the number that we will get. This problem thus highlights the impossibility of the probability to be an absolutely precise science as oppose to the other branches of mathematics.Question 3The probability that a film processed on machine X is . besides, the feeling of a film is independent of the fibre of all the films processed before it. Thus the probability that three films randomly chosen from a batch sexual climax from machine X is simply .Lets denote bythe event the batch came from machine X, the event the three film are all of good quality. Clearly, what we are asking for is the probability that and occur at the same time, which is the probability that the three films are all of good quality and the batch came from machine X. Using the theory of conditional probabilities, we have.Since all of all films are processed on machine X, then . is simply the probability the probability that we calculated above. Thus . Hence.Question 4At each question only two things puke happen 1-the student rouse answer the correctly, and we denote by the probability that this does happen 2-or the student foot choose the wrong outcomes among the five possible, and we denote by the probability that this does happen.Obviously we mustiness have . Given that only five outcomes are available at each question, only one of which being correct, we have , and .The experiment that consists in respond a single question can therefore be viewed as a Bernoulli experiment with parameter . Hence, Taking all the multiple-choice examination can be viewed as Binomial experiment with parameter , where . Lets be the random variable representing the number of correct answer achieved by the student. Clearly, the distribution of Binomial with parameter . The probability that the student passes the test is the , which is equivalent to . But,where for each , .Hence,.This gives us , and thus the probability that the student passes the test is .Question 5Bayes Formula Let E, F be subsets of some sample space S, and let Fc be the complement of F in S. We can pull E as because in order for a point to be in E it must be either in E and F or in E but not in F. As EF and EFc are mutually exclusive we can write Applying this to the conditional probability equating gives . Consider the following problemWe have three boxes labelled U1, U2 and U3. Each of them contains a mix of discolor and red balls. The proportion of white balls is each of them is as follows 30% for U1, 60% for U2, 40% for U3. We back out one ball from U1 if it is a white ball then we draw a ball in U2, other we draw a ball in U3. We would like to find the probability that the first draw gives a red ball knowing that the endorse draw has given a given a white ball.We denote by the event the second draw is made in the box Ui, the event the second draw gives a white ball.Clearly, if the first draw gives a red ball, then the second can be made only in U3. Thus the probability that the first draw gives a red ball knowing that the second draw has given a given a white one is exactly the same as the probability that the second ball comes from U3 knowing that it is a white ball, which is nothing else than . Using t he Bayes formula, we have. (1)It can be easily seen that and are mutually exclusive as a the second draw can not happen in both U2 and U3 simultaneously. Also since the second draw can happen only either in U2 or U3, then gives all the possibility on where the second draw can happen. That is why .The top of the fraction (1) is simply application of the conditional probability.Hence
